An announcement was made today (20 May) in Cannes that a new studio is to be launched in Bucharest, Romania.
The facility is the result of a partnership between Bobby Paunescu and Jared Underwood’s Solar Entertainment Group (SEG), and Romanian real estate entrepreneur and business group owner Dragos Savulescu. The new studio complex, Solar Studios, will be located on the site of what was previously known as Kentauros Studios, recently acquired by Savulescu.
Combined with Bobby Paunescu’s Mandragora Studios, also in Bucharest, Solar Studios aims to be the most complete studio in eastern Europe, with full service facilities for feature films, TV, commercials and music videos.
Producer, DoP, and line producer Viorel Sergovici is already in place as the man in charge of the day-to-day running of the studio. He said of the venture: “The formation of Solar Studios represents an important milestone in the development of our company. We are extremely excited about our partnership with Dragos and the value he brings to Solar Entertainment Group."
