Angelina Jolie’s second film as director, Unbroken, continues to use a wide variety of Australian locations, with local press reporting Camden Showground, in the Macarthur region of New South Wales, the latest spot to host the major feature.
In October, an announcement was made by Screen Queensland that the state would host much of the filming, utilising facilities such as the Village Roadshow Studios in Oxenford and locations such as Moreton Bay.
New South Wales is getting more than just a look-in too: apart from the main production office being based at Fox Studios in Moore Park, Sydney, parts of the city are standing in for Japan and the Blacktown Sportspark is being used as the Olympic Stadium of 1930s Berlin.
The film stars British actor Jack O’Connell as Olympic athlete Louis Zamperini, who survived a plane crash during WWII and was subsequently held in a prisoner of war camp by the Japanese. Garrett Hedlund, Domnhall Gleeson and Luke Treadaway are among the large cast.
We wonder if Jolie’s crew and cast will run into the Mad Max: Beyond Fury team, as they are also in the Sydney area shooting the opening and closing scenes of the futuristic thriller which stars Tom Hardy.
