After months of global buzz, the official casting news on Star Wars: Episode VII has now been confirmed, and the line-up is certainly an international one.

The original stars – Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels (C3PO), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), and Kenny Baker (R2-D2) – will be joined by American actors Adam Driver (Girls) and Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis); UK thesps John Boyega, Daisy Ridley and Andy Serkis; and Irish rising star Domhall Gleeson. Swedish elder statesman of the big screen Max von Sydow is also on board.
Director J.J. Abrams said: "We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud."
The producers are Abrams, Kathleen Kennedy and Bryan Burk, with veteran screen composer John Williams also on the team.
Shooting begins at the UK’s Pinewood Studios next month, with the worldwide release date set for 18 December 2015.
