British actor Tom Hiddleston is to portray legendary country singer Hank Williams in a new big screen biopic.
I Saw the Light comes from super producer Brett Ratner and his shingle RatPac Entertainment; he produces alongside Aaron L. Gilbert, Marq Rosell and Marc Abraham, who also directs from his own screenplay.
It is reported that Hiddleston will also will also sing in the biopic, so we can look forward to the Thor actor warbling hits such as Ramblin’ Man, Move it on Over and Lovesick Blues.
Williams certainly led an eventful, albeit very short, life – when he died aged 29 he had recorded 35 singles and suffered with spina bifida, alcoholism, back pain and prescription drug abuse.
Hiddleston first has to film High-Rise, the big screen adaptation of J.G Ballard’s dystopian novel, which is due to begin shooting in Northern Ireland next month.
Cameras are due to start rolling on the I Saw the Light in October in Louisiana, which is currently enjoying a massive upswing in hosting major productions, with titles such as the Twilight saga, Jurassic Park 4, Fantastic Four and Zipper all choosing the film-friendly state.
