The latest in the line of action thrillers starring Tom Cruise, Mission: Impossible 5 (MI5) is due to kick off shooting in Vienna before heading to the UK.
The spy series sees Cruise reprise his role of IMF agent Ethan Hunt; he also produces along with David Ellison and J.J Abrams – the latter is already in the UK working on the small matter of Star Wars: Episode VII. Christopher McQuarrie (Jack Reacher) directs from Drew Pearce’s screenplay.
The MI5 films are based on the TV series of the same name, and have amassed over $2bn worldwide since Brian de Palma’s first film in the franchise back in 1996.
Much of de Palma’s original was also filmed in the UK; other locations used in the global franchise since have included Prague, Virginia, Mumbai, Moscow, Vancouver, Bangalore and Dubai.
