Some exciting location news has reached us here at KFTV: we have it on pretty good authority that Ridley Scott’s next major film, The Martian, is setting up to shoot in Hungary.
Our sources tell us that the production office is based at Korda Studios, which is located nearly twenty miles outside Budapest in the village of Etyek. The film will also shoot on various locations within Hungary.
The film stars Matt Damon as NASA astronaut Mark Watney, who is stranded on Mars after his fellow crew bail out following a dust storm. Watney faces the massive challenge of trying to survive alone on the planet while awaiting rescue. Kate Mara is also reported to be circling the project.
Scott directs from a screenplay by Drew Goddard – adapted from Andy Weir’s book – and also produces alongside Simon Kinberg. A November start is reportedly on the cards for this one, which comes from US studio giant Twentieth Century Fox.
