New TV series Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger is filming on location in and around New Orleans in Louisiana.
The drama follows two teens from radically different backgrounds who fall in love as they adapt to newly-acquired superpowers.
“Louisiana delivers the perfect creative landscape for Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger, as well as providing exceptional resources for production talent and a business-friendly environment,” said Jeph Loeb, executive producer on the show and Marvel’s head of television.
The Louisiana shoot will be something of a break from tradition for Marvel, which has been filming its Defenders TV series – including Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Daredevil – in New York over the past few years.
“Louisiana’s incentive programme, our crew base, infrastructure, locations and film-ready communities are exceptional assets available to the television and film industry,” said Don Pierson, secretary of Louisiana Economic Development (LED).
“We know Marvel had the ability to consider other locations, and due to their confidence in all the things we have to offer, they have wisely chosen Louisiana.”
Louisiana remains one of the top filming locations in the US, despite the introduction of a per-production cap on incentive payments.
The state recently hosted production for Logan, the third standalone movie featuring X-Men character Wolverine, which is likely Hugh Jackman’s final appearance in the role that made him famous.
