Action movie Legacy of Lies has shot scenes on location in Ukrainian capital Kiev and is also filming in London.
Directed by Adrian Bol and produced by Mark Foligno, the story follows a former MI6 agent forced back into the world of espionage.
Parts of the script for Legacy of Lies were specifically written for locations found in Kiev when the producers became aware they could maximise their production values in the city and offer visuals seen less frequently on screen.
“This feature called for a lot of action, stunts and interesting settings – Kiev offers all of this and more,” said Dmitry Sukhanov, co-executive producer with Toy Pictures, the exclusive Ukrainian partner of Production Service Network.
“The versatility of Ukraine’s capital city allowed for us to film at significant transport hubs and working landmarks including the bus station, the main railway station and in the international airport. We even destroyed a nightclub a little bit. That’s not to mention the street action, jumping off bridges and explosive car crashes.
“We worked with a completely international team on this project; [the] UK cast is mixed with local Ukrainian actors – [the] movie is to be released in English. Alongside this, in our team were great specialists from the UK, Sweden, the Netherlands, Poland and China.”
Recruiting a fully international crew was partly a commercial strategy to help facilitate the film’s international sales.
Kiev has recently hosted a commercial shoot for Lacoste, while selected scenes for the Sky/HBO drama Chernobyl were shot in the city.
