Icelandic director Baltasar Kormakur is currently in pre-production on the film, Everest, with a three month shoot due to get underway in early November in Italy, Nepal and the UK. The screenplay is by William Nicholson and Justin Isbel, and based on the tragedy that took place when three separate climbing expeditions were caught in a lethal storm. The feature comes from UK-based Working Title Films.

The film is one of two currently being developed about the highest mountain in the world, with Tom Hardy attached to star in Doug Liman’s film about George Mallory, the English mountaineer who famously disappeared while attempting to conquer the peak in 1924.
