Filming is due to start on 1 September in Atlanta, Georgia on The Fifth Wave starring Chloe Grace Moretz and Liev Schreiber.
The film is an adaptation of the first instalment in Rick Yancey’s trilogy of young adult sci-fi novels and centres on Cassie Sullivan (played by Moretz) as she struggles to survive in a world that has been destroyed by waves of alien invasions, with those left behind living as if in the Stone Age. Schreiber plays Colonel Vosch, the villainous alien leader.

J Blakeson (The Disappearance of Alice Creed) directs from a screenplay by Susannah Grant, working alongside producers Tim Headington, Graham King, Tobey Maguire and Matthew Plouffe.
The film comes from Columbia Pictures, GK Films (King and Headington) and Material Pictures (Maguire and Plouffe). A local casting call went out recently in Atlanta for football players, paintballers, extras and some featured roles.
Georgia has long been an attractive proposition for filmmakers, with qualifying productions receiving a 20% tax credit, along with a further 10% for embedding a Georgia promotional logo in the film title or credits. And with a major new Pinewood studio there now hosting, among others, Ant-Man, the state’s reputation as being film-friendly looks set to continue.
