Director Jonathan Glazer is at the helm of a new ad for Canon, as part of the company’s ‘Come and See’ campaign.
The ad – from JWT London - is the first of two stories used to launch the campaign. It centres on a Calcio Storico match – an ancient version of football which has more to do with grappling and wrestling than precise ball control.

The visceral event takes place every year in the beautiful medieval city of Florence – it is thought to have started in the Piazza Santa Croce - and sees competitors dressed in medieval costumes brutally battling it out to win first prize… a cow.
The second story (not quite completed at the time of going to press) is filmed in the UK - we see a herd of deer on a quiet housing estate close to Epping Forest as residents sleep, unaware of their visitors. Both ads were filmed using the Canon EOS C500 and EOS C300 by renowned British cinematographer Barry Ackroyd and have a pan-EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) release.
Glazer, whose most recent work include the acclaimed feature Under the Skin with Scarlett Johansson, directed the ads, which join an impressive list of commercials credits in his canon of work such as Nike, VW, Levi’s, Stella and the famous Guinness surfer spot.
