Last year marked the strongest year ever for filming in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 2014 the city issued a total of 400 film permits to a mixture of film, TV and commercials shooting around the city.
A substantial amount of projects were filmed in well-known Las Vegas locations including the famous Welcome to Las Vegas sign, the Las Vegas Strip and the many popular hotels scattered throughout the centre of the city.

The sudden increase in productions occurred simultaneously with the launch of Nevada’s film tax credit in 2014. The bill, sponsored by the state, now provides $20m a year in tax breaks to filmmakers, as long as the productions cost a minimum of $500,000 and filmmakers spend 60% of their budgets in Nevada, with Nevada-based companies.
Big budget productions to have shot within Las Vegas in 2014 include: Think Like A Man Too, CSI and a litany of commercials for blue-chip companies including BMW and McDonald’s.
The tax programme is set to be evaluated after four years to determine whether it has been effective and whether it will continue.
