Bel Powley, Douglas Booth and Elle Fanning are leading the cast of feature film A Storm in the Stars, shooting in Ireland and Luxembourg.
The movie has started shooting in Dublin, and is set to move to Luxembourg over the next few days for a further four weeks’ filming.
Saudi Arabia’s first female director Haifaa Al-Mansour, directs from a screenplay by Emma Jensen.
The feature centres on the love affair between the poet Percy Shelley (Booth) and the outspoken, rebellious teenager Mary Wollstonecraft (Fanning). It explores their stormy relationship, her trip to Lake Geneva with Lord Bryon and the creation of one of the most iconic works of Gothic literature, Frankenstein.
The project is produced by Amy Baer of Gidden Media, whose credits include Last Vegas, working alongside Ruth Coady and Alan Moloney of Dublin-based Parallel Films.
Since January 2015, Ireland has offered a hefty tax credit of up to 32%. It also enjoyed a significant profile boost when Star Wars: The Force Awakens landed there for filming in 2014, with reports suggesting that the next episode in the saga is also utilising Irish locations.
