Netflix has started filming new movie Okja on location in Seoul, South Korea, with stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Tilda Swinton and Paul Dano.

Okja is directed by Korean filmmaker Bong Joon Ho, whose past projects have included dystopian drama Snowpiercer and acclaimed 2006 monster thriller The Host (pictured).
Brad Pitt is among the credited producers on Okja through his company Plan B, and the movie will also film on location in Canada and in the US.
Seoul is becoming a more popular international filming location. Marvel filmed a key action sequence in the city for Avengers: Age of Ultron and the first series of the Wachowski siblings’ sci-fi drama Sense8 also shot locally and was launched on Netflix.
Korea offers a cash rebate of up to 25% as a filming incentive for international productions that shoot for at least ten days in the country and spend $2m locally.
Netflix is rapidly expanding its international production scope, having recently announced plans to film a political corruption drama in Brazil. Additional projects have included Pablo Escobar miniseries Narcos in Colombia, The Crown in the UK and two seasons of Marco Polo in Malaysia.
