Michael Bay’s fifth Transformers movie has started filming on location in Cuba, beginning a production schedule that will also take in Detroit and the UK.

Cuba is finally opening up as an international filming location following a thaw in diplomatic relations with the US.
Historical drama Papa: Hemingway in Cuba recently became the first Hollywood production to shoot in the Caribbean country since the revolution of the late 1950s.
Co-producer Michael Pacino told KFTV that Papa’s long pre-production process had helped pave the way for movies like Fast 8.
Transformers is also scheduled to shoot in Detroit over the next few weeks using a $20m filming incentive from Michigan authorities.
The action franchise will be a repeat visitor to Michigan. A Hong Kong set was built in central Detroit for previous movie Transformers: Age of Extinction, which set its finale in the Chinese city.
The UK will also be a prominent location for the first time in the history of the Transformers saga. Bay recently revealed he had scouted Stonehenge in southern England, but specific UK filming locations for the movie haven’t yet been confirmed.
London is one of the top production hubs in the world, offering world-class studios and experienced crew, backed by the UK’s generous filming incentive support.
