New Western drama series Godless has started filming on location in Santa Fe, New Mexico, for Netflix.
The six-episode production is set in the 1880s and tells the story of a vicious outlaw hunting down his former partner-in-crime. Oscar-winning filmmaker Steven Soderbergh is among the drama’s executive producers.

Godless comes just a few weeks after actor Christian Bale returned to New Mexico to film the Western feature Hostiles, set in the early 1890s. Other recent Westerns to have shot in the south-west US state have included Jane Got A Gun (pictured) and The Ridiculous 6.
New Mexico’s filming incentives and desert vistas make it a popular location for bigger-budget Western stories and a regular double for TV war dramas and films set in modern-day Iraq and Afghanistan.
Santa Fe offers three standing Western sets, while Santa Fe Studios has a pair of sound stages that each span nearly 20,000 sq ft.
More than 60 films and TV shows delivered $387m in direct production spending throughout New Mexico in 2015, according to recent figures from the New Mexico Film Office.
