A new series of the critically-acclaimed TV drama Fargo will return to Alberta in Canada and will use the recently-opened Calgary Film Centre as a production base.
Fargo takes place in the same world as the Coen Brothers’ Oscar-winning 1996 film of the same name, but each series is set in a different time period and tells a self-contained story.

Patrick Wilson (pictured) starred in Series 2 – set in the late 1970s – as a police officer battling organised crime elements.
The new series will be set in the more recent past and will star Ewan McGregor as a pair of twin brothers who have a difficult relationship.
The Calgary Film Centre opened earlier this year and offers three sound stages among its CA$30m production facilities, the largest of which is nearly 21,000 sq ft. Fargo is scheduled to use two of the stages through to the spring, the Calgary Herald reports.
Fargo filmed both of its previous seasons in Calgary but the production team had to rely on warehouse space for set-building.
In recent years Alberta has also hosted productions including Western TV series Hell on Wheels and Klondike. The Canadian province also got a profile boost as the main filming location for Alejandro G Iñárritu’s Oscar-winning survival drama The Revenant with actor Leonardo DiCaprio.
The Alberta Film Fund offers a grant covering up to 30% of eligible local production expenses, but the support is limited to CA$5m per-production.
