Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns, the reboot of the much-loved tale about the famously eccentric nanny, is lining up to begin principal photography in the UK next week.
The film revisits the Banks children around 30 years on from the 1964 feature; Emily Blunt stars in the title role.
Ben Whishaw and Emily Mortimer play the grown-up versions of her original charges, with a starry cast lent further heft by Meryl Streep, Colin Firth, Angela Lansbury and, in an homage to the original, Dick Van Dyke.
Disney has made the UK its second home over the last few years, with the behemoth Star Wars franchise based at Pinewood Studios.
Other offerings from the Mouse House currently making use of the UK tax credits, studio facilities and crew include The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, Tim Burton’s Dumbo and Cruella, which will see Emma Stone as the fur-loving villain in a 101 Dalmations spin-off.
