New York’s post-production sector delivered $128m to the state’s economy in 2015, according to the Post New York Alliance.
The figure comprises $73m in direct spending and $55m in “indirect and induced” expenditure.

A fifth of all US post-production companies are based in New York and the growth of the post sector has been linked to the success of the state’s 30% post incentive programme, which rises to 35% for work done in areas outside Manhattan.
The report was published shortly before the governor of New York proposed a three-year extension to the state’s incentive support.
New York City remains one of the most popular filming locations in North America, with the all-female crime caper Ocean’s Eight among the recent high-profile movies to shoot in the city.
The city is sometimes recreated elsewhere in the country. Cincinnati in Ohio is building a reputation as an effective stand-in for New York as it looked in the mid-20th century, while Marvel’s New York-set Spider-Man: Homecoming was filmed mainly in Georgia.
