Actor Mads Mikkelsen and director Joe Penna are filming on location in the mountains of Iceland for new movie Arctic, set in the wildernesses of the north.
The film tells the story of a man stranded in the Arctic who must decide whether to attempt a perilous trek to safety when a rescue attempt fails.

Armory Films and Union Entertainment Group are working on the movie with Icelandic service company Pegasus Pictures.
“As a group of American producers, our goal has been to access untouched scenery in an effort to create something truly special,” said Noah C Haeussner, a producer with Union Entertainment Group.
“Our partners at Pegasus Pictures and the incredible Icelandic crew have made it possible, along with the amazing team at Armory and visionary producer Martha De Laurentiis.”
Iceland is a suitable location for a story of this sort as wilderness visuals can be found within just a few hours of capital Reykjavik. The country also offers a generous filming incentive that was boosted to 25% of eligible local spending earlier this year, following the launch of Norway’s first formal filming support programme.
One of Iceland’s highest-profile recent shoots has been the action movie Fast & Furious 8, which drove a fleet of vehicles across a frozen lake for the film’s finale.
