Christopher Robin, the latest Disney feature to set up a UK shoot, has begun filming at a major studio.
Ewan McGregor and Hayley Atwell star in the film which is said to be centred on the character of Christopher Robin as an adult who, as a work-driven businessman, has lost his sense of imagination – until he is re-visited by his childhood pals from The Hundred Acre Wood.
Director Marc Forster (pictured) is working alongside producer Brigham Taylor on the feature, which follows a long line of live-action reboots from the Mouse House.
Apart from the behemoth that is the Star Wars series of films and their spin-offs, Disney’s profile in the UK has ramped up in recent years, with live-action reboots such as Mary Poppins Returns, Aladdin from director Guy Ritchie and Tim Burton’s Dumbo all jostling for studio space.
According to recent figures from the BFI, inward investment projects were responsible for making up £880m of the overall feature film production spend of £982m in the UK from January-June this year – a massive 90% of total spend.
