Movie and TV production filming in New Mexico surged by nearly $120m in the 2016-17 financial year, an increase of 30%.
Filming delivered just over $500m into the south-west US state’s economy, according to the governor’s office. New Mexico hosted 52 major projects with budgets over $1m.

X-Men spinoff Logan (pictured) was among the high-profile films to shoot in the state.
Television series included a third season of Better Call Saul and a television adaptation of the 1995 comedy movie Get Shorty.
“New Mexico’s film and television industry is continuing to diversify our economy and create good jobs for New Mexicans,” said Matt Geisel, economic development cabinet secretary for New Mexico.
“New Mexico’s unique natural wonders, powerful incentives and incredible workforce are continuing to drive our state forward.”
The state’s filming incentive support has helped turn New Mexico into the most popular part of the US for desert settings. Producers also have access to a strong crew base and well-equipped studios.
