Facebook is teaming with Blumhouse Productions to film its first scripted drama Sacred Lies on location in Vancouver.
Sacred Lies is a ten-part series based in part on the Brothers Grimm fairy tale The Handless Maiden and novel The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly by Stephanie Oakes. Production is scheduled between March and May this year.

The drama will be screened on Facebook Watch, an SVOD platform that the social network giant set up last year.
Blumhouse specialises in converting low-budget horror stories into major international hits, with examples including the Insidious franchise (pictured) and the Paranormal Activity movies, as well as Jordan Peele’s acclaimed Get Out.
“Sacred Lies is an inventive twist on a time-honoured fairy tale, which we believe will surprise and stir the Facebook Watch audience and we’re excited to be the studio producing this provocative series,” said Blumhouse Television co-presidents Marci Wiseman and Jeremy Gold.
Facebook reportedly plans to spend around $1bn on content for its Watch service over the course of this year. The figure is far below those stated by SVOD market leaders Netflix and Amazon but is an intriguing statement of intent.
