Chernobyl is the first in a $250m multi-year co-production investment deal between HBO and Sky.
“The scale of the production makes it a perfect first project for our co-production partnership with HBO, encapsulating our ambition to develop high-end drama with international viewpoints and casting,” said Gary Davey, managing director of content for Sky, when the series was first announced.
Lithuania offers a 20% filming incentive and in recent years has hosted international productions such as War and Peace and The Eichmann Show.
