Michod and Pitt have worked with Netflix before on modern war movie War Machine.
The King will reportedly focus on the decisive Battle of Agincourt of 1415, which became a key victory for Henry V and his armies in the country’s Hundred Years’ War with France.
Longbows were a central feature of Henry’s army and helped turn Agincourt into an iconic historical event of the Middle Ages.
Most of The King is scheduled for production in Hungary, with a few weeks of filming also planned to take place in the UK.
Budapest is a key Eastern European production hub and offers a 25% filming incentive. The country recently hosted scenes for a UK TV production of period story Vanity Fair and Budapest has been used for high-profile shoots including Blade Runner 2049, Atomic Blonde and The Alienist.
See KFTV's production guide for more on filming in Hungary.
