New drama series Oil will film on location in Beirut, the Persian Gulf, New York and London to tell the story of efforts to claim the Gulf’s natural resources in the 1970s.
London-based production company Nevision is partnering with Lionsgate UK on the eight-part drama that is currently in development with writers Alan Whiting, Matthew Faulk and Mark Skeet.

The writers will also be executive producers alongside Lionsgate’s Steve November and Sarah Conroy, and Neil Zeiger and Sharon Bloom of Nevision.
“Lionsgate is the perfect partner for Nevision to develop and produce this series,” said Zeiger.
“Alan, Mark and Matthew have such a strong vision and we share Steve’s and Sarah’s enthusiasm for it. We very much look forward to working with them to bring the world of Oil to the screen.”
Abu Dhabi (pictured) is known internationally as the production centre of the Persian Gulf and the only city in the region to offer formal filming incentive support. As such, it’s a likely eventual filming location for Oil. Beirut is not known as a global production hub but Lebanon does have a thriving regional TV and commercials industry.
