Victoria in Australia sets up Indian film fund

The plan is to bring an Indian movie a year to Victoria for the next four years.

“As the proud home of our nation’s biggest Indian community, it’s only fitting that we’re home to Australia’s Bollywood industry too,” said Martin Foley, minister for creative industries in Victoria.

“For local producers and artists, this will provide an opportunity to collaborate and create something uniquely Victorian and Indian.”

Like Australia as a whole, Victoria is looking to expand its production appeal throughout eastern and southern Asia.

In June, it was announced that Australian-Chinese co-production The Whistleblower would be filming in Melbourne and surrounding locations as the largest shoot of its sort in the state.
