Cable channel HBO Europe has started filming sci-fi drama Beforeigners on location in Oslo as its first Norwegian production.
The series is set in an alternate reality where people from past eras of human history – known as ‘Beforeigners’ – mysteriously reappear in the modern world and require reintegration to society.

Beforeigners is being supported with the equivalent of €418,000 in tax rebates from the Norwegian Film Institute and will also be filmed partly in Lithuania.
Norway offers a 25% filming incentive but the support programme is limited by a film fund of just under €6m for this year, which may be a reason why Norway is yet to find much success in attracting international films.
Tom Cruise’s action sequel Mission: Impossible – Fallout was a high-profile recent visitor but organised only a short stay filming an integral fight scene on the country’s Preikestolen, or Pulpit Rock.
Beforeigners is being made as a six-part series that will launch in 2019.
