Veteran TV director Mark Brozel will work from a script by Steve Lewis and Tony Owen, while Joel Scott-Halkes of Osiko Films in London and Mark Lavender of Rough Sea Productions, are involved as producers.
Earlier this year the Greek government launched a 25% cash rebate as the country’s first formal filming incentive support, administered by the National Center for Audiovisual Media & Communication.
The new incentive should help boost Greece’s international production profile. Athens has already hosted BBC co-production The Little Drummer Girl this year, while director Michael Winterbottom is currently filming an untitled project in the country as his latest collaboration with Steve Coogan.
Other major shoots with Greek settings have used other countries as stand-ins.
Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again doubled a Croatian island for Greece and Paul Greengrass’ 2016 action movie Jason Bourne recreated Athens on Tenerife in Spain’s Canary Islands.
See KFTV's production guide for more on filming in Greece.
