Nicholas Jarecki is directing a cast that includes Gary Oldman, Michelle Rodriguez, Greg Kinnear and Lily-Rose Depp. The film is being made as a co-production between Canada and Belgium.
Montreal is a popular Canadian filming hub best known in recent years as the home of the X-Men film franchise. The latest instalment, Dark Phoenix (pictured), is set to be released this June and was originally scheduled to spend $80m filming on location in the city.
The city’s production facilities include MELS Studios, which recently hosted stage work for Roland’s Emmerich’s upcoming war film Midway.
Montreal is also a visual effects hub, with Scanline VFX and Technicolor having opened new offices in the city in recent months, adding to Quebec’s expansive post-production sector.
