French director Leos Carax’s romantic musical Annette, starring Driver and Marion Cotillard, is due to shoot in Belgium, Germany and Los Angeles from August to November
Charles Gillibert’s CG Cinema came on board to revive the project, which has been in gestation for four years. Co-producers include Paul-Dominique Vacharasinthu at Tribus P Films, French-German channel Arte, with Kenzo Horikoshi from Japan’s Eurospace, Fabian Gasmia from Germany’s Detail Film, and Geneviève Lemal and Benoît Roland from Belgium’s Scope Picture & Wrong Men.
"We will be shooting in Cologne, Germany, a bit all over Belgium and Los Angeles from August to November," Roland at Wrong Men told KFTV.com.
The film is about a stand-up comedian (Driver) whose opera singer wife (Cottilard) dies, leaving him alone with his two-year-old daughter who has a surprising gift.
Annette will be Carax’s English-language debut and his first film since 2012’s Holy Motors, which received critical acclaim.
Rock band Sparks will be working alongside celebrated music producer Marius de Vries (La La Land, Moulin Rouge) on the soundtrack for Annette.
Kinology will handle international sales in association with Logical Pictures. Amazon is due to release the film in the US.
