Director Chloe Zhao’s The Eternals, starring Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden and Salma Hayek, is due to shoot at Teide National Park in Tenerife.
The prehistoric location would be ideal for the film, which is set millions of years ago when a super-powered species called the Eternals were created by a group of Space Gods to defend the Earth and do battle against the evil Deviants.
Disney’s Kevin de la Noy and Karl McMillan met with Tenerife government officials last week, including Jose Gregorio Martin Plata, minister of territory planning, historical heritage and tourism, and Juan Marquez, deputy minister of culture for the Canary Islands government, to discuss the technical aspects necessary for shooting the blockbuster on the island.
Local outfit Sur Film will provide assistance to the project, having already been involved in the shooting of Clash of the Titans and Fast and Furious 6 on the island. But exact shooting locations and timings cannot be revealed yet, "due to our confidentiality agreements", Yanira de Armas, head of locations at Sur Film told KFTV.com.
Based on the Jack Kirby comics, The Eternals is underway in London and is scheduled for a 6 November, 2020 release date.
