Filming of The Tiger Rising, starring Queen Latifah, Dennis Quaid and newcomer Madalen Mills, started this week in the US state of Georgia.

The production team are currently shooting in the cities of Thomasville and Tifton.

Based on a New York Times best-selling children’s book of the same name, and directed by Ray Giarratana, the drama tells the story of a reserved 12-year-old Rob who suffers from  bullying and the death of his mother, before starting a new life in rural Florida at the Kentucky Star Motel where he encounters a Bengal tiger.

Producers are GG Filmz’s Deborah Giarratana and Streamline Global’s Ryan Smith, while Latifah, Allen Cheney and Christophe Suchet serve as executive producers.

Quaid is also set to star in the forthcoming Netflix series Merry Happy Whatever and Lionsgate’s Midway. While Mills will appear in David E. Talbert’s Netflix live-action movie musical Jingle Jangle, with Forest Whitaker, Keegan-Michael Key and Phylicia Rashad.
