Sources have confirmed that Netflix is halting all pre-production and physical production in the US and Canada for two weeks starting on Monday (16) in response to coronavirus concerns.
The streamer’s international productions are being handled on a case-by-case basis in cooperation with national and regional authorities and depending on the unfolding situation in the locale.
Netflix’s head office in Hollywood has been temporarily closed after a reported case of COVID-19 and staff are working from home.
The development follows a Disney announcement that the studio is suspending select live-action shoots including Rob Marshall’s The Little Mermaid, which was scheduled to start production in London next week.
Separately, Sundance Institute said on Friday evening it would ”suspend, reschedule, or re-imagine” all live programmes through April.
