It has been a historic two (almost three) months, for Iskandar Malaysia Studios and for the world. As of June 10th, IMS staff and tenants have returned to the site, as we ease back into “the new normal” operation. If you have a physical production need, our team at our Iskandar Puteri facility is ready to help you.
On the 20th of May 2020, the Malaysian government announced that filming in Malaysia is allowed to take place under strict Standard Operationg Procedures (SOPs). These SOPs have now been delivered as of the 10th of June 2020. For advice on these SOPs please reach out and we can assist with your understanding and implementation of them.
We have instituted new policies to ensure the safety and health of our customers and employees as well as to comply with Government SOPs. Here are some of the continued policies:
Malaysia and COVID:
To slow down the spread of the novel coronavirus, Malaysia had imposed a lockdown of the country under the Movement Control Order (MCO) starting on March 18. The MCO was extended for the fourth time to June 9, 2020, with a gradual easing of lockdown measures to be implemented till then. As of June 9, 2020, Malaysia is ranked number 73 globally in total active cases (1202) these figures are some of the lowest worldwide (Source: Worldometer). Infection rates in Malaysia are expected to remain under control due to effective Government and public initiatives, including significant investment into the national healthcare capacities and test and tracing mechanisms.
Incentives:
Both FIMI (National fund) and FIMI+ (IMS Fund) are open for business, with approximately $30m available in the FIMI 30% rebate incentive, and an additional $15m specifically allocated to clients of the studio. Please do get in touch for more information on these incentives.
In conclusion, we hope that you and your family have stayed healthy and safe during this unprecedented outbreak. Our community is what makes us strong. Working together and supporting each other will allow us all to get through this and come out the other side more resilient.
