Disney + spin-off series Star Wars: Andor, starring Diego Luna, is filming at Pinewood Studios from the end of November to July 2021 with testing and mask wearing required on set.
The Rogue One prequel will unfold in the early years of the Rebellion with Luna reprising his role as rebel spy Cassian Andor, the cocky daredevil who helped steal the Death Star plans in the hit 2016 movie. Alan Tudyk is also set to reprise his role as K-250, Andor’s droid sidekick.
Tony Gilroy had been lined up to write and direct the series, but was recently replaced by UK based Toby Haynes, who is expected to direct the first few episodes.
Covid protocols on set include temperature tests every morning, Covid tests three times a week, and the wearing of face coverings, including visors if near the actors. With American actors on board, the production is following British guidelines and American union guidelines.
Disney has a policy that the square feet of the location dictates how many people are allowed in a given space. This can vary depending on if the actors are on set or not.
A Covid team is overseeing proceedings.
