Hereditary director Ari Aster is set to shoot his next movie, Disappointment Blvd, in Montreal, Canada from 28 June with Meryl Streep and Joaquin Phoenix onboard.
Aster will be re-teaming with A24 (after Hereditary and Midsommar) for this new project, which originally went by the title Beau is Afraid.
This will be Phoenix’s follow-up role to the hugely successful Joker film, for which he won an Oscar. He is also set to star in Ridley Scott film Kitbag, in which Phoenix will play Napoleon Bonaparte.
Details are being kept under wraps for Disappointment Blvd, written and directed by Aster, but the plot is described as “an intimate, decades-spanning portrait of one of the most successful entrepreneurs of all time.” Alongside A24, Aster and Lars Knudsen will produce under their Square Peg banner.
Disappointment Blvd is one of several Hollywood productions shooting in Montreal in the coming months. Spinning Gold, a Casablanca Records biopic, and a new Transformers installment will also be filmed in the city.
