Season 3 of the Bruce Lee-inspired action series Warrior is set to shoot in Cape Town, South Africa this July.
Executive producer of the series and daughter of the late martial arts legend, Shannon Lee, announced the news via the official Bruce Lee Twitter account on 20 June.
'So you know how July 20th is a very special date in the Bruce Lee legacy — it is the day that my father passed away, Lee said in a video post on the social media platform.'
She continued: 'Well this year, we get to celebrate him and his legacy in a really really special way - but on July 18th, instead of July 20th [...] The whole cast and crew of Warrior are getting together to start filming season 3! [...] The cameras start to roll.'
Alongside series lead, Andrew Koji, Warrior stars Kerian Bew, Celine Buckens, Olivia Cheng, Dianne Doan, Dean Jagger, Langley Kirkwood, Maria-Elena Laas, Hoon Lee, Christian McKay, Dustin Nguyen, Tom Weston-Jones, and Perry Yung.
The series is set during the brutal Tong Wars of San Francisco’s Chinatown in the late 19th century. It is created and executive produced by Jonathan Tropper (Banshee) under his Tropper Ink Productions label.
It is also executive produced by Justin Lin (F9: The Fast Saga), Danielle Woodrow and Andre Schneider for Perfect Storm Entertainment, Shannon Lee for Bruce Lee Entertainment, Brad Kane and Richard Sharkey, with Kenneth Lin, Evan Endicott, and Josh Stoddard serving as co-executive producers.
Lee's announcement comes less than two years after the Koji-led series concluded its 10-episode season 2 run on Cinemax in December, 2020.
The upcoming third season will make its debut on HBO Max in January, 2023.
