North American outfit Sunbelt Rentals has acquired Manchester's film, television and photographic lighting rental specialist, PKE Lighting (PKE).
PKE supplies the film and TV industry with lighting equipment, transport options and power generators in multiple locations throughout the UK.
The deal follows Sunbelt's recent acquisition of Pinewood's audiovisual equipment supplier, Movietech, further strengthening its position in the UK and international film and TV industry.
PKE and Movietech will collaborate with Canada's William F. White International (WFW), a film and TV production rental specialist business, also owned by Sunbelt Rentals.
PKE owner and director, Mike Pollard said: “It’s a great opportunity for us to be under the same umbrella as Movietech and WFW, which will allow us to continue to be successful well into the future.
“With Sunbelt’s support we will be able to invest in additional inventory and rental solutions that will expand our equipment offering and service for our clients, he added.
Commenting on the acquisition Andy Wright, Sunbelt Rentals UK CEO said: “These are exciting times for all of us as we expand our footprint in the UK TV and Film market. The combined knowledge and expertise of PKE, Movietech and William F. White International will be a true differentiator for us and our film and television clients.
The existing team of Mike Pollard, Matt Evans and Chris Hughes will remain in the business and work alongside Sunbelt and WFW and will assist with executing the exciting UK expansion plan.”
