Part Two will return to Abu Dhabi’s Liwa desert for over a month later this year, taking advantage of the 30% cashback rebate offered through the Abu Dhabi Film Commission.
“We look forward to returning to the majestic sand dunes of Abu Dhabi and bringing Arrakis to life for Dune: Part Two,” said Denis Villeneuve.
As previously reported, the film will also return to Jordan in 2022. The production filmed in Wadi Rum and Wadi Araba for Part One and is likely to return, although the team were considering alternative sites. Part Two is also set to return to Origo Studios in Budapest, Hungary, and will film scenes in Altivole, Italy.
Florence Pugh, Austin Butler and Christopher Walken have joined the cast, alongside the returning Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Zendaya and Javier Bardem.
The screenplay is written by Villeneuve and Jon Spaihts. Villeneuve produces with Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Tanya Lapointe and Patrick McCormick.
Dune: Part Two is set for release on November 17, 2023.
