Disney+ and National Geographic miniseries A Small Light is filming across Prague until the end of October.
The series is based on the true story of Miep and Jan Gies who sheltered Anne Frank and her family for two years during WWII and preserved Anne’s diary.
Susanna Fogel (The Spy Who Dumped Me) will direct multiple episodes of the eight-episode miniseries, from a script by series writers and showrunners Joan Rater and Tony Phelan (Grey’s Anatomy).
Filming is taking place in several locations across the Czech capital, including the Old Town, Josefov, and Malá Strana, which is likely to stand in for WWII-era Amsterdam.
Bel Powley (The Morning Show) plays Miep, with Joe Cole (Peaky Blinders) as Jan, Liev Schreiber (The Omen) as Otto Frank, Billie Boullet (The Worst Witch) as Anne, Ashley Brooke (The Blacklist) as her sister Margot, and Amira Casar (The Contractor) as their mother Edith.
A Small Light is currently one of three large international productions being shot in Prague, alongside the fourth season of Sky’s German TV series Das Boot and Sony Pictures Entertainment/Hassell Free Productions’ reboot of The Crow, directed by Rupert Sanders and starring Bill Skarsgard.
Zentropa’s Dutch period drama King’s Land is expected to start filming in the Czech Republic, Denmark and Germany from September.
