An outline application has been submitted for a new film and TV studio in Berkshire, called Holyport Studios.
According to the plans, lodged with the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead Borough Council on 19 December 2022, the applicant is Greystoke Land, whose aim is to create a new filming complex on an agricultural plot near a cricket ground and nature park.
The breakdown of the provision includes: “Sound stages, ancillary offices, virtual reality studio, storage and warehouses, workshops, specialist studio facilities and outdoor film backlot.” The applicant also promises a new cricket pitch and nature park with an emphasis on landscaping and ecology.
The site comprises 43 hectares of land, lying to the north and south of Gays Lane, Holyport, Maidenhead, close to Windsor, Heathrow Airport and the M25.
The application includes a 92-page Energy and Sustainability Statement detailing the ways in which the proposed development is future proofed for the longer term while aspiring to be net-zero carbon in operation.
There is also an extensive Heritage Statement, dealing with the issues of various heritage assets such as the Grade II-listed granary and cattle shelter at Stroud Farm and the nearby listed Yew Tree Cottage.
