For Her Sins, Channel 5's psychological thriller about female friendship, was filmed in Malta.
It stars EastEnders' Jo Joyner and All Creatures Great and Small's Rachel Shenton.
The show's executive producers, Jessica Connell and Alison Jackson, headed to the warmer clime for a few specific reasons.
The pair told i: "Our shoot dates were across the British winter and we felt it would add something creatively if we had the opportunity to explore both exterior and interior locations – exploiting the feeling of summer, sunshine, blue skies etc."
"We wanted to offset the complexity of this psychological thriller with a visual world that was warm and beautiful – to subvert the genre and move away from the gritty reality of a British winter.
"Malta offers not only glorious weather but cinematic and inspiring exterior locations that helped us realise our cinematic ambitions.
"These included the children’s park, woodland etc. but also gave us the opportunity to film in the sea with experienced underwater crews (Malta has a wealth of expertise)."
Kalanka Bay, the site of the beach and a lighthouse were used specifically for flashbacks and the "hugely ambitious finale."
Other shooting locations in Malta include Ta’ Qali Park for episode one, and Corinthia Palace’s Athenaeum spa for episode two's spa-set sequence.
The first episode of For Her Sins airs at 9pm on Channel 5 on Monday 5 June.
