Morocco's minister for culture Mohammed Mehdi Bensaid visited the set of Gladiator 2 where a city-seige battle sequence is being filmed.
Bensaid shared the footage on Instagram from the set where Ridley Scott is currently filming the follow up to his 2000 hit Gladiator.
Filming is also taking place in Malta, and London, UK.
The use of Morocco as a main filming location has led many to believe the sequel will focus in some part on the Roman Empire's expansion into North Africa.
Gladiator 2 centres on Commodus' nephew Lucius (played by Paul Mescal), the son of Lucilla (the returning Connie Nielsen) based on a script by David Scarpa.
Lucius featured in the first Gladiator film as a young boy who idolised Russell Crowe's Maximus.
Other original cast members reprising their roles include Djimon Hounsou as Juba and Derek Jacobi as Senator Gracchus.
They are joined by newcomers Denzel Washington, Joseph Quinn, May Calamawy, Pedro Pascal, Lior Raz, Peter Mensah, Matt Lucas, and Fred Hechinger as Emperor Geta.
The footage debuts over a week after an accident on set in Morocco halted production. Production has resumed.
You can see the Instagram video below.
The film is currently scheduled for release on November 22, 2024.
