Dan Stevens (Legion, Downton Abbey) and Melissa Barrera (Scream, In The Heights) are currently tapped to star in an as of yet untitled Universal Pictures monster thriller.
The movie, directed by Scream's Tyler Gillett And Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, is currently filming in Dublin, Ireland.
Gillett confirmed it, saying: "The tease is that we’re in Ireland prepping it right now. It is hopefully gonna get up and shooting in the next few week."
Barrera then confirmed the project was under way while promoting her film Carmen. Barrera said: "We're going to be here for the next two months and it's so cool."
Chad Villella is producing alongside William Sherak, Paul Neinstein and James Vanderbilt at Project X Entertainment, Tripp Vinson, and Gillet and Bettinelli-Olpin's Radio Silence.
The script was written by Stephen Sheilds, with revisions by Guy Busick.
Joining Stevens and Barrera is a top-tier cast including Giancarlo Esposito, Alisha Weir, Kevin Durand, Kathryn Newton, Angus Cloud and Will Catlett.
While plot details are being kept under wraps, Universal said the film will continue in the recent vein Universal films such as Leigh Whannell’s The Invisible Man and the Nicolas Cage starrer Renfield. It will be "a unique take on legendary monster lore and will represent a fresh, new direction for how to celebrate these classic characters."
The untitled movie has an April 19, 2024 release date.
