Season 2 of Netflix's Hellbound is currently filming in South Korea.
The upcoming continuation of the critically acclaimed series was announced on September 24, 2022 at Tudum, the Netflix Global Fan event.
Season 2 explores the themes of mortality, sin, and justice with greater scale and depth.
Based on the webtoon The Hellbound by Yeon Sang-ho and Choi Gyu-seok, Season 1 featured supernatural beings appearing out of nowhere to condemn people to hell, and a religious group named The New Truth flourishing as people searched for answers amid the chaos.
Kim Hyun Joo as Min Hye Jin and Yang Ik Jun as Jin Kyung Hoon reprise their main roles in the next season.
From a supporting character to a main role, Kim Shin Rok also returns and will reprise her role as Park Jung Ja.
Lee Re as Jin Hee Jung, and Lee Dong Hee as Kim Jung Chil return as supporting cast.
Yeon (Train to Busan and Peninsula) returns as director, and is co-written by Choi (creator of webtoon Songgot).
Last autumn, Tudum revealed a reprise of Season 1’s cliffhanger ending, where protagonist Park Jung-ja, one of the first victims sent to hell, comes back via a resurrection. At the event, this season finale twist was followed by the brief but official announcement of Season 2: 'All Hell Breaks Loose Again.'
The series is produced by Climax Studio, Wow Point and co-produced by Midnight Studio for Netflix.
