The third season of Netflix's hit comedy drama series Heartstopper has officially started filming.
Netflix announced production start on X (formerly Twitter) alongside a picture of creator Alice Oseman holding a clapperboard. The streamer captioned the post: "Heartstopper Season 3 is now in production."
Oseman, the original creator of the graphic novel in which the series is based, continues to pen the series. Andy Newbery is now at the helm, who takes over from Euros Lyn having directed the first two seasons.
“Love” was the single word Oseman used to tease the third season at this year's Netflix TUDUM fan event.
“People who have read the comics will know what’s going to happen, but I don’t want to spoil it for people who haven’t been reading the comics,” Oseman said. “I think [Season 2’s ending] just sets up that conversation for next season. We know that Charlie loves Nick, and I think we know that Nick loves Charlie as well. It’s just about when and how they’re going to say that to each other.”
Most of the main cast will return for the third season of Heartstopper including: Joe Locke as Charlie Spring, Kit Connor as Nick Nelson, William Gao as Tao Xu, Yasmine Finney as Elle Argent, Tobie Donovan as Isaac Henderson, Cormac Hyde-Corrin as Harry Greene, Rhea Norwood as Imogen Heaney, Corinna Brown as Tara Jones and Kizzy Edgell as Darcy Olsson. Sebastian Croft, who plays Ben, will not be returning for the next season.
Production will move to Dorset, UK for the third chapter. Previous seasons filmed in Buckinghamshire and Berkshire in South East England. As well as Twickenham Film Studios, Windsor, and Uxbridge.
See-Saw Films produces the series for Netflix.
