On Fire, the upcoming film based on a true story, has begun filming in Missouri having secured a SAG-Interim agreement.
The film stars William H Macy, John Corbett, Joel Courtney, DeVon Franklin, Stephanie Szostak, Masey McLain, Natalie Buck, and James McCracken.
On Fire tells the true story of nine-year-old John O’Leary who, after a harrowing accident where he is burnt across 100% of his body, is given virtually no chance of survival.
The synopsis continues: "In his fight to live and show us what’s possible, he winds up leaning on his family, faith, and the entire city of St. Louis, including legendary St Louis Cardinals announcer Jack Buck." Sean McNamara serves as director, with the adapted screenplay by Gregory Poirier.
This is reportedly the first production to make use of the US state's reinstated tax incentives.
According to St Louis news outlet KMOV, the film will employ 700 local people, and the main cast is expected to arrive later in the month.
J Todd Harris (Branded Pictures Entertainment) and Margaret French Isaac serve as producers alongside McNamara and David Brookwell (Brookwell-McNamara Entertainment), with Amy Powers as co-producer.
Executive producers include Linda Huntington, Terry Schnuck, and O’Leary.
