Manitoba, Canada is set to double the previous year's production levels, according to Janice Tober, marketing and communications director for Manitoba Film and Music.
Speaking to the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), Tober said: "It's approximately double the previous [2023-24] fiscal year … at $225 million when filming in Manitoba was impacted by the writers' and actors' strikes in the US."
According to Tober, the estimated production volume for calendar year 2024 is a record-breaking $434.9 million.
Production on A24's Altar is set to begin in mid-August in Manitoba, starring Kyle MacLachlan, David Krumholtz, January Jones, and Lily Collias. The sequel to Universal's Nobody, Nobody 2, returns to Manitoba for production this summer as well, and sees Bob Odenkirk return to star. 20th Century's It Takes Two, directed by Scott Pilgrim's BenDavid Grabinski also films in Manitoba with production beginning on September 3.
