51 Pictures Roofman starring Channing Tatum is in pre-production in North Carolina, with filming set for this autumn in Charlotte.

The film is directed by Oscar nominee nominee Derek Cianfrance, best known for Blue Valentine, from a script by Cianfrance and Kirt Gunn. Details of how to apply for crew positions can be found on the Charlotte Regional Film Commission website.

According to the Charlotte Observer, Roofman will film around Charlotte from October through December.

The film tells the true story of 'the rooftop robber' Jeffrey Manchester, a former US Army Reserve officer who was known for his gentle demeanour and lack of violence.

Manchester broke into over 60 of McDonald’s restaurants across the USA by entering through the roofs. He was caught in 2000, but four years into his sentence he escaped prison and hitchhiked to Charlotte, where he hid for months inside a Toys R Us and abandoned Circuit City store.

Dylan Sellers and Chris Parker will produce through their Limelight production banner, alongside Cianfrance’s collaborators Jamie Patricof and Lynette Howell Taylor.
